When writing, I draw upon my memories of my family, their courage and faith, and the guidance the Lord has provided me in growing my personal faith in Him. I am dedicated to crafting stories that are not only historically accurate but also positive and uplifting. As the old song goes, "I Love To Tell The Story of Jesus and His Love," and this is my driving force when I write. I believe that sharing the love of Jesus through my writing is a powerful way to spread His message and inspire others.
Some people may label me as a "cradle Christian." I grew up in a small southern town with my extended family nearby. I still thrill at the memory of Granny B. teaching me my first Bible verse, "What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee," Psalm 56:3. I was only four years-old, still I remember it as if I can reach out and touch Granny B’s work-worn, gentle face.
When I visited my maternal grandparents home not far away, Grandma would always say, "Let's practice our song." I knew she meant the song I was to sing at Sunday morning church service. I could not read, so she taught me to memorize the words. I remember her having an old upright piano. The player mechanism was long since gone, but when Grandma's deft fingers touched the yellow-stained ivory keys, the sound was one of an authentic player piano. What sweet memories.
On Sunday morning, before the offering, Grandma stood me on a chair so everyone in her church could see me...all five of them. I folded my hands just the way Grandma taught me, and sang, "Footprints of Jesus." Each time I visited Grandma’s house, which were many throughout my childhood, Grandma taught me a new hymn for my age, giving me a treasure chest filled with sweet hymns. When I was older, I sang, "Try The Man of Galilee," and "I Come To The Garden Alone," and many more.
So, you see when people call me a “cradle Christian,” I am not offended. For that’s what I am. My love for Christ, and His for me, is as natural for me as breathing.
I wish everyone knew the love of God as a deep personal love.
At my church, my husband and I are involved as ushers, and I love greeting people.
A friend suggested we re-introduce the fashion of wearing hats to church. I did not own a hat. So after searching for hats, which I found in a vintage store around the corner from my house (how convenient.) Now, I have 30+ vintage hats and am lovingly known as "The Hat Lady.
I try to remember, "Don't take yourself too seriously," and I took this selfie before church.
A Facebook poll was a rousing affirmative. This is now my official photo.
